In a bid to up the tool's versatility, appMobi has announced developers utilising its HTML5-based XDK development platform now have access to a whole host of fresh APIs.
The influx comes about as a result of a deal with so-billed 'development power tool' Mashery, which stands as the world's leading API management and strategy services company.
AppMobi's XDK can now tap into scores of Mashery-managed APIs, including WeatherBug, Quova, Klout, Rotten Tomatoes, and Qwerly, allowing developers to deploy information and content from scores of different providers within their titles.
Appy with APIs
"The best mobile apps deliver information and content to the user when and where they need it, and Mashery makes it easy to add the power of hundreds of data and content suppliers to your app," said appMobi CEO Dave Kennedy.
"By combining appMobi's tools and cloud services with Mashery's managed APIs, we've created a very compelling environment for HTML5 mobile app developers.
The XDK runs on Mac, PC and Linux platforms, while apps created using appMobi's XDK can be deployed across either iOS or Android, or be delivered as a web app.
AppMobi also provides cloud-based services including push messaging, in-app payments, user authentication and analytics - features that are missing in HTML5.
