It appears that German-developer-turned-publisher Flaregames has finally found success following its pivot to publishing.
Speaking to VentureBeat, Flaregames CEO and founder Klaas Kersting said that the company is now cash-flow positive, having tripled its revenues and profits since January.
He puts this down to the successful launch of Finnish developer Kopla Games' Nonstop Knight, which saw two million downloads in four days, a number that has now grown to over four million downloads.
Scaling up
"We found something that we can grow and scale on a portfolio level," said Kersting.
"Nonstop Knight is a showcase of what Flaregames can contribute to a developer."
The company also saw some success with its own release, Olympus Rising, which managed over a million downloads within two weeks of its release.
Flaregames takes a "boutique" approach to publishing, offering developers not only money, but also development staff if the team needs to be rapidly scaled.
