Sony Pictures Television has announced plans to release six new mobile games, based on brands from elsewhere in the Sony empire.
Although the majority are based on films and TV shows (we'll get to those in a minute), one sprang out on us: LocoRoco.
That's right, the excellent PSP game is coming to mobile. SPT hasn't given many details, but the game will see you tilting and jumping LocoRoco past obstacles to find his friends the MuiMuis, and uncover hidden areas.
Of course, mobile has its own LocoRoco in the shape of Eidos' SolaRola, which was heavily inspired by the PSP title. LocoRoco's mobile edition is due out sometime between June and November this year, like the other five announced titles.
So what are they? There's a couple of movie games: Hancock: The Mobile Game, and Quantum of Solace. There's a couple of TV-show games: Rock & Roll Jeopardy! (a musical twist on the quiz show) and Wheel of Fortune Road Trip.
And then there's an intriguing-sounding game called Afterworld Global Contact, which is based on an animated series designed to run across TV, the internet and mobile. It's an adventure game where you have to travel the world searching for your family, and includes a feature that unlocks exclusive content on the web, as you play the mobile game.
But really, it's all about LocoRoco for us. Sony Pictures Television's announcement was made at the CTIA show in Las Vegas, so it's unclear whether it's US-only, and whether Sony Pictures Europe will bring some or all of the games out here.
