Expansion into DS development likely

Xendex secures EUR 2.3 million investment
European mobile games developer Xendex has announced a €2.3 million funding round, with investors including VC firm Pontis Venture Partners, and the former founders of Austrian mobile firm 3United Mobile Solutions.

Xendex has so far developed 45 mobile games, and says its FMX series (published by I-play) has sold more than two million downloads. Other recent titles include Icy Tower and BEEzzz for Hands-On Mobile, and 4 Wheel Extreme for I-play.

However, the company also offers QA, games distribution and portal management services mainly to central and eastern European markets, signing up 70 partners including T-Mobile, Orange and O2.

So how will Xendex use its new loot? Expansion onto other platforms is apparently imminent, particularly DS. Meanwhile, further international growth is also on the agenda.

"After more than seven years of success in the globally dynamic market for mobile games we wanted to join with financially powerful partners to accelerate our further international growth," says CEO Michael Haberl, promising to "extend both operative and distributional activities".
