Blizzard's CCG Hearthstone finally recovered fully from its worst revenues ever on mobile in April 2017, according to SuperData Research.
The data firm has released its latest Worldwide Digital Games Market report, this time covering April 2017. It reported that the mobile market had grown 8% month-on-month in terms of revenue.
Hearthstone had suffered a major decline in mobile revenues in February 2017 due to unpopular changes made to the game. This recovered rapidly thanks to the introduction of a new expansion, Journey to Un'Goro.
Top earners
The top ten performing games for the month were:
- Clash Royale
- Monster Strike
- Clash of Clans
- Game of War: Fire Age
- Fantasy Westward Journey
- Mobile Strike
- Honour of Kings
- Pokemon GO
- Lineage 2 Revolution
- Fate/Grand Order
The list has not changed much compared to March 2017. Lineage 2 Revolution is one place higher than the previous month, though it has fallen considerably from its top spot in the February rankings.
Despite its age, Hearthstone's mobile release continues to be a strong performer for Blizzard. It has held steady in the top 100 grossing charts in the US on iPhone throughout 2017, aside from its brief dip.
