Traditionally casual-focused Berlin-based mobile developer Wooga has announced the opening of a new studio to focus on "core" titles, Black Anvil Games.
The new company will be headed up by Wilhelm Oesterberg, who moves on from being Head of Studio at Wooga.
“Building a brand that gamers can relate to will help Black Anvil Games establish itself in a very competitive segment of mobile games," said Jens Begemann, Founder and CEO of Wooga.
"While the team will have full access to Wooga’s proven expertise in terms of go-to-market, the studio can focus solely on creating full-on core gaming experiences on mobile."
Hot off the forge
Black Anvil Games is already working on its first title, Warlords, currently in soft launch in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, and Sweden.
The game has been in soft launch since September 2015, with Mantis Shrimp listed as the developer, and is expected to launch some time in 2016.
Wooga also announced it had set up a dedicated wearable gaming studio in late 2015.
